The Brief
The existing chatbot answered correctly but felt like a form. The brief was an interface that makes the assistant easy to start with and honest about what it can and cannot do.
Trust was the main concern: people needed to see what the assistant could do, and what it could not, before they typed anything.
Our Approach
We designed suggested prompts for the first message, a clear way to correct the assistant, and a hand-off to a human that never loses the conversation so far.
We reviewed hundreds of real conversations to find where answers were right but the experience felt cold or confusing.
The final interface keeps replies short, shows its sources and makes it easy to step out to a person at any moment.
